Transformation

© Mac Kristin

„Transformation,“ the concluding work of the „These Paintings May Contain Hope“ series, marks a tonal and chromatic shift. The palette moves from deep reds and pale blues toward magenta, hot pink, and periwinkle, creating a visual passage toward transcendence and renewal. These softer, cooler tones introduce a sense of possibility absent from the previous works. Yet the compositional approach remains consistent: thick, gestural brushwork establishes the foundation, with bold strokes applied using large brushes in wet and dry techniques. The resulting surface vibrates between control and spontaneity, structure and release. The final layer of black acrylic pen marks completes the series‘ visual and conceptual arc. These marks ground the ethereal colour palette in emotional reality, preventing the work from dissolving into pure abstraction. The interplay between the luminous pinks and periwinkles against the dark, fractured linework creates a tension between hope and the persistence of pain. „Transformation“ does not resolve the narrative established in „Hurt“ and „New Silence.“ Rather, it acknowledges the possibility of change while maintaining honesty about the complexity of healing and growth.
